Dr. Marion Pierson is MO Hives president, and is a pediatrician, with a special interest in education and urban community service.

Dr. Pierson served as a co-chair of the Star Galaxy Committee at St. Teresa’s Academy (STA). Dr. Pierson is a graduate of St. Teresa’s Academy class of 1987 where she proudly served as the President of her senior class and founded the STA Science Club.

Her love of science and commitment to her community continues. Two years ago, for example, she shared her love of medicine with STA students when she taught a mini surgical practicum for a group of sophomore Biology students. Immediately after graduating from STA, she attended The University of Missouri-Kansas City BA/MD Six-year Medical Program where she received both a Bachelor’s degree in Biology along with her medical degree (1987-1993).

Upon choosing her specialty, she traveled to Washington D.C and completed her Pediatric Internship and residency at The Georgetown University Children’s Medical Center (1993-1996).

Dr. Pierson is an active volunteer in many community and civic organizations including; The Jackson County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated- an international volunteer service organization of businesswomen of African ancestry. She has been a member of The Links,Inc. for over a decade and has held several leadership positions there, most recently as chapter president.

Dr. Pierson was honored to serve in Jefferson City as a two-term Gubernatorial appointee to the State of Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee. An agency charged with achieving “…The highest level of health for Missourians through cost containment, reasonable access and public accountability.”

Dr. Pierson has, over the past two decades served as Chair for multiple Pediatric Departments and is a past President of the Medical Staff, of St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit where she lives and is currently a partner at Village Pediatrics, LLC. in Prairie Village, Kansas.

In 2010 Dr. Pierson founded EM Medical Products. Her company is dedicated to the development of medical devices for pediatric patients. She is the inventor of the KIDAIR adapter, an endotracheal tube securement device.

Dr. Pierson is married to Emmet W. Pierson Jr., and they are the proud parents of two very active girls, Elexa (a student at Howard University where she plays D1 soccer) and Erris (a student at The University of Kentucky). Importantly, Dr. Pierson has passed her love of science and giving back to her children. Erris was awarded the National All-American Miss Pre-teen title in Anaheim,California in early 2015. Her platform is to bring more visibility to and eradicate pediatric neuroblastoma cancer.

MO Hives KC Co-Founder Brian Reeves is the organization’s vice president, and is a pharmaceutical rep.

Brian Reeves began his profession in pharmaceutical sales at Merck Company and has more than 20 years experience in pharmaceutical sales, selling in the clinical specialty areas of Psychiatry, Asthma, Pain, Long Term Care, Epilepsy, Rheumatology, Endocrinology,Orthopedics, OBGYN, Neurology, Pediatrics, Gastroenterology, and Cardiology. Brian has had a successful, award winning career, and a reputation of being a positive leader.

Most recently, Brian is a specialty sales representative for Glaxo Smith Kline, selling a Biologic for Severe Asthma. Brian is a President’s Circle Winner and 4x Pinnacle Award winner.

Brian received an athletic football scholarship to the University of Missouri. Brian graduated with Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation, and worked several years in behavioral health and physical rehabilitation settings. Brian resides in Raymore, MO. He enjoys physical activities, working out, teaching a fitness class or riding his bicycle. In good weather, he often rides 100 miles a week. He also loves to travel and hopes to visit all 50 states. His ideal trip would be a ‘triple threat’: seeing a new place, doing something active and taking in a spectator sport. Brian also is a Bee Keeper in his efforts to save the planet, and teaches both young and not so young, the wonderful story of a bee’s life.
